The Carpinteria Arts Center presents its ARTISTS MARKETPLACE every
First Saturday beginning March 7, 2015 from 10 am to 4 pm in the
courtyard of the Arts Center.

The Marketplace is a fundraiser for the Arts Center, and an opportunity
for member artists to display, demonstrate and sell their original art and
magnetize people and activities to the Arts Center.

We are looking for many different types of artists and artistry including
woodworking, basketry, photography, painting, sculpture, assemblage,
printmaking, weaving and fiber arts, pottery, jewelry, unique designs and
other locally handcrafted items

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

  1. Registration:       Each artist must register for one of the 24 (6 X 6) spaces and indicate his or her acceptance of the terms and conditions of the Artisans Agreement for the Marketplace. (See the “ARTISANS AGREEEMENT” on the next page.)
  2. Donation:       Donation for each space is $15.00 to help cover promotion and incidental costs, due prior to confirmation of registration. (No percentage of sales will be charged. )
  3. Membership: Each participating artist must be a member of the Carpinteria Arts Center (CAC).
  4. Original Artwork Only:       All work presented must be the artist’s own original artwork. Artwork presented must be primarily originals; giclees, prints and cards of the artist’s own original work are also permitted.
  5. Demonstrations Encouraged: Artists are encouraged to demonstrate the creation of their art during the Marketplace.

 

HOW TO REGISTER

  1. Confirm your acceptance of the terms and conditions of the “Artisans Agreement” (below) by sending an email to the Registrar at [email protected]. with the following or similar language:

 

“I _______ have read and understand the terms of the Artisan Agreement and agree to abide by them. I am a current member of the Carpinteria Arts Center in good standing [or will become a member or bring my membership current within five days]. I am [or am not] interested in doing a demonstration of creating my art.”

And include the following information:

  1. Upon receipt of your email and confirmation by the Arts Center of your membership and receipt of #15 per space, the Registrar will reserve your space and notify you of your confirmed registration.
  2. Wait List. The number of spaces on each day is limited to 24. If no spaces are available, you will be informed and may ask to be on the wait list.

Each artisan must agree to the following:

  1. Membership: All participating artists must be current members of the Carpinteria Arts Center. Membership is $35.00 per year. Dues and membership must be current to confirm your space at the Marketplace. Artists may mail a check to CAC at PO Box 597, Carpinteria, CA 93014 or go to the carpinteriaartscenter.org website and use PayPal.
  2. Donation for Space: A donation of $15.00 donation is due prior to confirmation of your registration. As in the case of dues for membership, artisans may mail a check to CAC at PO Box 597, Carpinteria, CA 93014 or go to the carpinteriaartscenter.org website and use PayPal.
  3. Space Allocation and Furnishings: Spaces are assigned at the discretion of the committee based on the date of registration and the best effect of the entire marketplace.Please do not occupy more than your allotted space. Artists are responsible for bringing their own display tables, easels, and panels to show their work. Chairs are available at the Arts Center and must be returned to their storage location.
  4. Sales Transactions: Artists will handle their own sales transactions.
  5. Waiver of Liability: Vendors must sign a waiver of liability release and hold harmless for CAC and the event site prior to the commencement of each Marketplace.
  6. Setup and Takedown: All vendors must participate in setup and cleanup of their site. Display areas must be set up and ready for sales by the beginning of the Marketplace, and not be closed until the stated times of the Marketplace for that same day. Vendors should be present to set up their spaces at least one-half hour, but not earlier than on hour before the opening of the Marketplace. No early birds or early departures please!
  7. Access: Access for delivering and removing the artisan’s artwork will be from either the front or back gate. Beware of leaving your vehicle unattended at the back gate to avoid being ticketed.
  8. Demonstrations: Artists will indicate in their acceptance email whether they are willing to do a demonstration of creating their art and, if so, if they are willing to talk observers through their process and to having their demonstration publicized.
  9. Tips for the Musicians: Artists are encouraged to offer tips to the musicians playing at the Marketplace who are donating their services.
  10. Acceptance: The artist understands that in signing the Artisan Agreement the artist asserts that all work displayed is his or her own original work (or copies thereof); that the artist agree to all conditions and rules listed by the Arts Center; and, the artist will sign the Waiver of Liability holding CAC harmless and releasing CAC of liability.
