Avo Festival Art Bazaar Application Submissions Due

The Carpinteria Arts Center presents the 8th annual Fine Arts and Handcrafted Bazaar during the Avocado Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th, on the grounds of the Arts Center.  The bazaar was started in 2007 by local artists to give them a place to sell their work during the California Avocado Festival in Carpinteria.

The requirements for vendors participating in this year’s event are the following:  Each artisan must submit an application for participation by August 8th.  This is a juried show and they will be notified by email or phone if accepted by August 20th.  Space is limited and we want to insure a variety and balance of craftsmanship and art.  We regret we will not be able to accept all applicants.

We are looking for many different types of artistry, including but not limited, to woodworkers, basketry, weavers, photography, painters, sculptors, printmakers, locally handmade items, unique designs, fabric and fiber arts, pottery, jewelry and other handcrafted items.

In addition each artisan must agree to the following:

  1. All vendors must be current members of the Carpinteria Arts Center.  Membership is $35.00.  Payment must be made by September 15th to confirm your space for the Bazaar.  You can mail a check to CVAC at PO Box 597, Carpinteria, CA 93014 or go to our website at carpinteriaartscenter.org and use PayPal.
  2. Vendors must agree to donate 20% of all sales to CVAC or $100.00 whichever is greater.  This fee will be collected on Sunday at the end of the festival, in cash only, with an accounting sheet to be provided.
  3. Vendors must sign a waiver of liability release for CVAC and event site.
  4. All vendors must participate in setup and cleanup of their site.
  5. Vendors are encouraged to setup their areas Friday, between 9 am and 1 pm, the day before the event.  There is access from the back gate.  The area will be locked, but please do not leave your inventory, just the setup.  Booths must be setup and ready for sales by 9:30 am Saturday and Sunday and must not be closed until the end of the festival on Sunday.  (No leaving early!)  Bazaar hours are Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.

We want to encourage an “Open-Bazaar” type of feel for this event.  Pop-up tents will not be allowed.  It is suggested that you bring more than 1 umbrella and stand.  Help us to create a festive feeling by decorating your area with as much color as possible.
