First playing to Santa Barbara local crowds in 1986, they are still playing and touring nationally to this day.  The band has had numerous hits on the Billboard HOT 100 and albums which have collectively sold close to 4 million units. They have also seen their music featured on television and movie soundtracks.

His career as a solo artist has been equally remarkable, spanning decades of music, recording, and performance on his own and in collaboration with others.

As a lyricist, singer, and guitarist, he tours nationally but never forgets his local Santa Barbara area roots.  Glen is frequently barefoot when performing, a testimony to his west coast grounding.

Compass Records released Glen Phillips SWALLOWED BY THE NEW in 2018 with new bonus tracks; from the record website: "The album features the bonus track “Nobody’s Gonna Get Hurt” which was co-written with Lori McKenna and showcases backing vocals from Amber Rubarth.

SWALLOWED BY THE NEW is the most intensely personal album of his career, reflecting his mastery for converting raw emotion into sound. Taking on life’s difficult transitions, Phillips delivers some of his most vulnerable songs yet.

ABC News had this to say of his solo work, “Songwriting-wise, Phillips continues to come off like an American answer to Crowded House’s Neil Finn. Both men are masters at delivering dense, seemingly effortlessly-crafted songs rich with context and depth.”
